So here we are in Mount Maunganui – an incredibly beautiful, yet über touristy village at the base of a dormant volcano on the North Island – just about a 2-hour drive from Auckland. Today is the warmest weather we’ve seen yet in NZ – Spring has sprung and the temps are a glorious 72 degrees, even by the water. Tomorrow, we’ll be hiking up the volcano to experience the reportedly incredible views of the bay, ocean and surrounding beauty. This is one of our last free weekends before we fly back to the US after 5 amazing months in this spectacular country.
